Las Vegas Vacation Package

There are at least ten riverboat casinos all within an hour of where I live, so it’s easy for me to get in on some gambling action whenever I want to play cards, slots, or dice. But if you’ve ever been on a riverboat, then you know it’s not exactly an ideal gaming situation. For example, there are very few blackjack tables and you often have to wait 30 minutes or more before a seat become available.

And of course that’s the seat that was getting all the bad cards, which caused the last player to lose all his money and walk away in the first place! As much as I enjoy an entertaining evening of gambling, the action around here could never compare to Vegas. That’s why I regularly monitor all of the different Las Vegas vacation packages that I see advertised.

By purchasing a Las Vegas vacation package, I end up paying one low price for airfare, accommodation, and a rental car. It’s much easier from a convenience and budgeting standpoint to have all of those things taken care of up front than to worry about making and confirming several different reservations, as well as working out the separate payments for each part of my trip. Plus, Las Vegas vacation packages can be personalized to a certain extent. So if I want to catch a few shows while I’m in town, I can purchase tickets as part of my plan. Similarly, if I want to add Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam sightseeing tours to my itinerary, I can easily do that too. There are Las Vegas vacation packages that cover just about anything I would want to do in the area.

There are a few different hotels and casinos that I really enjoy staying at, so I’m glad that I can find Las Vegas vacation packages that feature rooms at the MGM Grand, the Bellagio, New York New York, Hard Rock, and some of the other big-name hotels. Whether I want to stay downtown or on the Strip, I always know there’s a Las Vegas vacation package that’s perfect for me.

I usually book my Las Vegas vacation packages online. There are so many websites offering excellent deals that it wouldn’t make sense to do it any other way. The process is quick and easy, and I’ve never had a problem with tickets or reservations.

If it’s about time for you to get away for some exciting gambling action, superb shows, and exhilarating nightlife, I highly recommend checking out some Las Vegas vacation packages. I think you’ll be surprised at how affordable a trip to Sin City really is!

Cheap Weekend Breaks

I’ve got a good job, but a kind of irregular one. You see, I probably work less than the average only 3 to 4 days a week, but I’m at work all year around. It is what comes of being a tutor; to make the bills, I simply can’t afford to take time off for an extended vacation. The best I can do is cheap weekend breaks here and there to cure the tedium of work.

The last of my cheap weekend breaks was a trip to Las Vegas. I found my tickets and my hotel through the internet and booked remarkably inexpensive travel all of the way there. You see, there are plenty of people like me who are catered to on the World Wide Web. People who have little money, but love to travel all of the time, who can’t afford to go all out and spend on luxury, but love to take cheap weekend breaks to a variety of destinations.

My trip to Vegas was really one of my favourite. I’m not a gambler, or much of one anyway, but I love the allure of glamour. The lights, the music, the high rollers and the broken dreams, all do something to me. It’s the exoticism of sensation, the immersion in the experience of a world different from my own, that forms the core of most of my cheap weekend breaks.

Before that, I took a mid-winter break to Charleston, South Carolina. In the spring and summer, this charming old southern town is a beach resort, booming with traffic and tourism, but in the winter, its mild weather, quiet beaches, and low tourist population make it one of the ideal cheap weekend breaks. I love that experience of sitting t here on the water, when no one is around; I love the sleepiness of a town in its off season, and the beautiful southern architecture. The hotels are cheap, the food, inexpensive and delicious, and all in all, it makes one of the ideal cheap weekend breaks. There is not much of a music scene or nightlife during the winter, but if you are only going away for the weekend, that isn’t necessarily such a bad thing. You can always take another cheap weekend trip somewhere livelier, such as the aforementioned Vegas, another time. Besides, sometimes it is nice to get away from it all. And this is definitely a less expensive way to do it than Hawaii.

Costa Rica Vacation

Overview of Costa Rica for Travelers

Christopher Columbus discovered Costa Rica and the indigenous people living there in 1502. The Spanish subsequently colonized it. The name of the country, Rich Coast, comes from their mistaken belief that gold was prevalent. It wasn’t, but the name stuck. In 1821, Costa Rica joined other Central American countries in declaring independence from Spain. True independence didn’t occur till 1838 when Costa Rica broke away from a federation of Central American countries.

In a major departure from many Central America countries, Costa Rica has largely been a free and peaceful democracy since 1899. It has a system of checks and balances similar to the United States, but more power is invested with the President and executive branch. The President and congressional members are elected to 4-year terms.

Costa Rica covers an area of 19,730 square miles. The capital is San Jose, which has a population of 2.1 million people. The terrain is rugged and tropical with dormant volcanoes, a rain forest in the south and immaculate beaches. Rainfall is heavy during summer months, but temperatures are consistently in the 70 to 90 degree range.

The people of Costa Rica are known both as “Ticos” and “Costa Ricans.” The total population is 4 million, but growing at 1.5 percent. Roman Catholic is the dominant religion, although 15 percent of the population claims Protestant as their faith. Literacy is at 96 percent. Average life expectancy for a woman is 79 years while men average 74 years. Spanish is the dominant language.

Although Costa Rica is a relatively small area, about the size of Vermont and New Hampshire combined, it has everything one could want in a vacation. Beautiful white sand beaches, great surf, active volcanoes, natural hot springs, and towering rain forests are just some of the sites in Costa Rica. Site seeing in the area is relatively simple via rental car or public bus.

A number of the principal mountain ranges are volcanic, and visitors can easily visit many of these areas. In the province of Cartago, for example, which is not far from the capital, San Jose, you will find Iraza volcano, which erupted in the early sixties. Po¡s volcano, located in the province of Alajuela, has one of the largest active craters in the world. In addition, Arenal volcano, in the north western region, delights thousands of visitors each year to a constant stream of red, hot lava rocks tumbling down its slopes.

Picturesque forests grow in the crater of the dormant Brava in Heredia. Arenal, a young volcano in the northern part of the country is constantly active (and is the site of a spa with natural hot springs). The country’s highest peak, Mount Chirripó, is not volcanic; it measures 12.412 feet. On a clear day one can see both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans from atop Mt. Chirripo.

The capital of Costa Rica is San Jose and is a good starting place for exploring the country. It is conveniently located in the center of the country and all the bus lines stop here. The port of Limon on the Caribbean Coast has quite a different atmosphere from the capital. Life is easy going on the Caribbean coast compared to the city life in San Jose.

San Jose is located in the Central Valley region of the country. Evenings in San Jose can be cool do to the high altitude, but you will not forget that you are in a tropical place even in this bustling city. The city itself is busy and filed with traffic. There are many things to do, but travelers often miss these sites choosing instead to head straight from the airport to hot costa rica beaches or rainforests. Although San Jose is not the most beautiful city in the world, it is generally safe and has a lot to offer tourists.

Costa Rica is both a hot tourist and relocation destination. The country is simply beautiful and the people are friendly. It is the right place to go the dream family vacation. There has been a lot of construction and expansion over the last 15 years. Places like Tamarindo are no longer sleepy little coast towns. If you want to see the sleepy Costa Rica of old, now is the time to go before it is too late. Visit Costa Rica!

Cruise Vacation

Thinking you could use an escape from the wintertime blahs, maybe even that dream holiday you’ve been thinking about for years? A Caribbean cruise vacation is the answer! What makes a cruise your dream holiday, you ask? Well, put simply, a cruise combines all the elements of a dream vacation into one blissful trip.

There is ALWAYS something to do, no matter your age or interests. Whether you’re on your honeymoon, vacationing with the family, or spending quality time reuniting old friends, a cruise is guaranteed to fulfill your dreams.

Picture yourself riding on a beautiful cruise ship, looking over the railing to see brilliant blue waters, idyllic sunsets, and dolphins playing in the white-capped waves. Do you feel dreamy already?

This fantasy can be your reality if you choose a cruise for your next vacation. With multiple poolside decks to lay out in the sunshine while enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean, along with reggae music and fruity island beverages, daytime on the cruise ship can be very relaxing. If you prefer to be more active, most ships are fully equipped with activities. Take a jog around the boat-top track, or spend the day in aerobics and yoga classes followed by a massage and facial at the spa.

If shopping is your one true love, you’ll be in heaven with all the shops on the ships, ranging from inexpensive trinkets to fancy wine and fine clothing. As if there isn’t enough to do aboard the boat, don’t forget about island excursions! As the ship makes stops at various tropical paradises, you can take in the local culture or fulfill your need for adventure. Locals await you to take you to their favourite coral to swim with the dolphins or on a waterfall climb. Also, there is unlimited shopping on the islands, so you can really add to your art collection or your wardrobe.

Try the native food of the islands, and maybe learn a new word or two. By the time you climb back aboard your ship you’ll truly feel like you’ve visited another world. Now it’s time to hop in the shower to prepare for the evening. Every night on a cruise ship is magical. Start out with a five-course meal in the fine dining room (that’s already paid for!!). Enjoy drinks, piano music, cover bands, dancing and more in one of the several bars, or try your luck at black jack or poker in the casino. There are always cruise-wide games to play on the decks if you want to meet new people or just be silly with your friends and family.

No matter what you are looking for in a holiday vacation, a cruise is sure to fulfill your dreams!

The Rio Carnival is an event of mere days, but the result of months of preparation. The most giving and hardworking hands during the months before are often the ones most overlooked by outside eyes. These are the people who make the Carnival what it is, they add an ingredient that couldn’t possibly be replicated by the largest tourist operator, most experienced guide or multi million dollar sponsor. They are the people from Rio de Janeiro’s poorest neighbourhoods, the so called favelas or shanty towns.

So where did you think all the magic and thrill Carnival is famous for started? From the production of the elaborate costumes to the performance and choreography of the costume bearers, residents of the favelas are deeply involved with every aspect of the Carnival. More often than not, this is done through their participation and membership to a local samba school.

The samba schools, with members reaching the thousands, will get together on a regular basis throughout the year for rehearsals and samba nights. All the samba schools have rehearsal spaces, called samba courts, or locally known as quadras de samba. They open, in most cases, at weekends for anyone, including tourists like you and me, as long as you pay the small fee at the door. To anyone who’s not been to one of these places they can only be described as nightclubs with samba.

This is the best way to make contact with the real samba and people of Rio de Janeiro. The nights are totally informal, and members of all ages including many old people can go to the party of any school. Most are quite far out of from the main parts of Rio de Janeiro and some of the areas they are situated in can be rough. To this end I would recommend going with a group in a package including a local escort, and round-trip transportation. Once you’re inside, it’s very safe. I would recommend not going flashy or having anything valuable with you except of course your camera. This is only due to the high density and energetic atmosphere of these events and you are more likely to lose or damage such items rather than have them stolen.

So maybe you are planning to come to the Rio carnival, or maybe not and you just want to sample some of the rich carnival energy that lasts all year round in this city. Either way, visiting a Samba school is a great pre-Carnival excursion.

If you are coming for the main event then remember it also means a bit of preparation on your part too. You should not only get your flight, but do a bit of research on your Carnival tickets in advance. Try to plan your Carnival activities ahead to sample the immense variety on offer. Include in your must-do’s the Samba Parade, street parties, and balls. You should also really organize your accommodation for the carnival well in advance.  Toronto Cruises

The best hotels, especially around Copacabana and Ipanema, are booked up early, so it’s advisable to make your hotel reservations as soon as you have decided to attend this spectacular event. Luxury brazil travel packages which include carnival  cruise discount and all the amenities mentioned before are available, so get ready and make the travel to Brazil.

Condo Rental

So you may be asking yourself, why would I want to rent a condo while on vacation? Although condos are a little more expensive than a normal hotel would be, you get more included with the full package, and when you really break the price down you are getting more bang for your buck.

There is always travel agencies that arrange those rental if you need a little help. Or you know, you can always use the Internet as a powerful tool to look for the most convenient condo rental that suits your dreamed vacation.  Wherever you plan to go there will always be a luxury condo rental waiting for you.

Advantages of Renting a Condo

PRIVACY – there is always someone there to see you when you leave or return and with whom.

CONVENIENCE – staying in a condominium not only gives you the same flexibility as you would have in your own home but also you are usually fairly close to the attractions. Some of the things that may be included with your luxury condo is: Central Air/heat, Washer and Dryer in Unit, Kitchen is fully supplied; swimming pools & spa, Clubhouse with game room and fitness center, Cable television in bedroom and living room, DVD players, big screen TV’s. The idea of being able to have more than four people is as aspect that will go far. No more having to get two rooms for a family or group of six. Many places also provide some sort of Internet access whether it be wireless for your laptop or a provided computer system. Babysitting and/or maid service can be provided as well. One of the other advantages that really grab our attention is that you have the comforts of being able to cook, do laundry and just relax. You can choose from one or more bedrooms, and can get extra beds if needed. Most of the rental condos that we found will allow you to put six people in a one bedroom.

PRICE – if you are planning your vacation either as one family, or as a two family group then the cost per person of a rental condo is quite small; if you vacation on your own, or as a couple, then a condo rental may well work out to be more expensive. Some people will try to weigh the cost of a stay in a rental condo against a couple of weeks in a low budget motel. There is really no comparison, especially when you look at the advantages and cost over the long run, including being able to cook instead of eating out every meal. Some motels and hotels actually work out to be more expensive, especially if you choose to stay in a suite.

Arkansas Cabins

When my wife started looking at Arkansas cabins as a destination for our vacation, I thought she was crazy. We are both music aficionados, forced by our jobs to toil in the relative obscurity of suburban Detroit, so when we have the time to take a vacation,

we like to go to a place where we can hear music, loud and live, and in plenty. Some place like New York City, or at least St. Louis. There is Little Rock in Arkansas. Ozark mountain cabins are not exactly the center of the club scene.

But looking at all of the pictures of Arkansas cabins on the internet, it got me thinking – wouldn’t you know it – of my father, and of the fishing trips he used to take me on. When I was little, we used to fish on the Ohio river. Even then, I wasn’t what you would call much of an outdoorsman. While the other tykes ran around, doing boy scouts and little league, I sat inside reading. My dad, a professor at the local college, could hardly disapprove of my nascent intellectualism, but nonetheless, he thought that a boy my age should spend some time out of doors.

Rent directly from the owner and save – find the vacation rental home, villa, condo and more that you’ve been searching for!

Without my father to force me outside, I must confess that I have somewhat lost track of what the squirrels and moose are up to since then, and I thought a vacation in one of those Arkansas cabins might be just what I needed. There were all kinds of cabins, from little mountain retreats in the Ozarks to generous, sprawling villas on the waterfront. Since it was my wife’s idea, I let her choose between the Arkansas cabins, and we were off.

She’s not much more decisive than I am, and by the time my wife could make up my mind, it was basically a matter of finding which of the Arkansas cabins were still open this late in the season. The one we picked was an Ozark mountain cabin, way off the beaten path, and with a breathtaking view of the whole region. Getting up there took us an extra three hours, and just to get to town to pick up some basic supplies was quite a hike. The electricity was bad, the water was cold, and the cabin was not all that well insulated, but it was worth it. My dad would be proud of me. Next time, will pick from the Arkansas cabins earlier in the year.

Formal Night on a Cruise

Much excitement and mystery surrounds the formal nights on cruises. It’s customary to have one formal night on a 5-day cruise, more in proportion on longer cruises. On my first cruise, I wondered what it would be like, how dressed-up people got, and what I would feel comfortable in. Let me fill you in!

I speak on cruise lines, and I’ve been on the Royal Caribbean, Costa, Holland America, Princess and Carnival Cruise lines lately.

Formal wear is officially defined as a tux or dark suit, white shirt and tie for men, and evening wear, cocktail dresses, fancy pantsuits or evening gowns for women.
Luxury cruises give you the opportunity to go formal, if you like to, but not an obligation. Many gentlemen do not wear tuxes. I’ve seen men in the dining room without jackets or ties, too. (Read your particular cruise line materials to see if a tie is required for gentlemen.) If you consider it fun to go formal, this is your chance to shine and you can go as formal as you like.

You can make it a full-meal deal, pampering yourself with a massage, a beauty treatment, a facial and then having your hair done that day. But book early, appointments go fast. Even if you’re cruising in the Caribbean in the summertime, the temperature is always cool in the dining rooms.

PHOTOGRAPHS

A large part of cruising for some people is the opportunity for formal portraits. It will say in your schedule when photography begins. Dress early and you may have to stay in a small line. They happily arrange family groups, even as large as 50. If you need a new professional photo, keep this in mind. They do designer-looking black and white head shots as well, and I wish I had known. I could’ve saved myself the sitting fee here in town, and a lot of time. So consider bringing along a professional jacket for one of the portrait opportunities.

DON’T WANT TO SPEND A LOT ON SOMETHING YOU’LL ONLY WEAR ONCE

There are several options here:
# Plan ahead and shop sales to catch something on special
# Shop in stores such as Ross Dress for Less. I’vee picked up wonderful formal gowns for $20-$30
# Look in resale stores. Their prices run higher, but there are always designer items, and that’s fun, too
# Don’t forget ebay, great deals, and tons of stuff for men
# Rent. Yes, they’ve thought of everything. CruiselineFormalwear for instance, provides a service for cruise guests on Holland America , Disney, Royal Caribbean, and Princess

HERE ARE SOME THINGS THEY OFFER FOR THE GUYS

# Tuxedo rental, delivered to your stateroom
# Tailor on board ship, contact the Housekeeping Dept. No charge. (Try on your tux right away; don’t wait for formal night)
# In case of major fitting problems (which shouldn’t occur if you measure right), there is usually extra inventory on board
# Inquire Instructions on the website on how to measure
# When to order? Call 1-800-551-5091 to inquire about your specific cruise. (Usually 1-2 weeks prior)
# Included is: jacket, pants, two shirts, cummerbund, bowtie, and cufflinks/studs
# Shoes and other optional accessories are rented separately
# Sizes up to 60 X-Long
# The black formal socks with the rental are yours to keep

To place your order you need:

# Name of ship, sail date and port
# Current measurements (height, weight, coat size, chest measurement, pants waist and length (inseam and out seam), shirt neck and sleeve, and shoe size
# Credit card payment information
# If your cabin number, ship or sail date change, YOU must notify Cruiseline Formalwear. The ship won’t
# Limited last-minute tux inventory for rental is aboard ship, but it’s first-come, first-served, and they may not have all sizes

FOR WOMEN

For women, CruiselineFormalwear offers several different items you can rent, including: black velvet, gold, and glitter blouses, black velvet and black crepe long skirts, and black formal shoes.
If you should forget to bring the right jewellery, there are plenty of choices in the ship store. They also offer basic formal wear for women for sale.

FOR BOYS

CruiselineFormalwear also has tuxedos for boys available for rent

AND

You’re on a cruise and there will be food 24/7. Sometimes I’m good and don’t gain 5-10 lbs. Other times, well, I always pack this great pair of beautiful black spandex-type evening pants with an elastic waist to wear toward the end of the cruise. Get the picture?

And remember, most cruise ships have alternative dining if you want to skip formal night altogether. Anyways it’s your vacation; have it your way!
